On Saturday, August 3, the first Pathfinders Club was inaugurated in the Colimes canton, part of the Guayas province in southern Ecuador.
The "Colimes" Pathfinder Club activities started with the arrival of the young missionaries from the OYiM project (One Year in Mission). This is part of the evangelism strategy in an area where 95% of the population devoutly practices another religion.
The event included investitures, a biblical message, and the symbolic act of driving the axe, which represents the beginning of the club's operations. Also present were the leaders of the Southern Ecuadorian Mission and parents who are studying the Bible, as stated by Lilibeth Ocampos, the club's director.
“When we arrived here, our goal was to have a Pathfinder Club, since it is the most attractive way to evangelize through the activities we have every Sunday. Along with that, we have managed to get the families of the children who attend the club to also study the Bible,” emphasizes Ocampos.
The challenge for these young missionaries is to get more people to join in Bible studies. However, they are grateful for the blessings they can see through missionary work.
In addition to the Pathfinders Club, volunteers work daily, giving talks on health and well-being, making visits, caring for neighbors, and offering door-to-door Bible studies in the Colimes canton.
